(a.k.a. Shakie Shae); one of the most talented and gifted female-rappers on the music scene. She brings a whole new twist to the game with her thuggish, yet distinguished lady-like style of Rap.
Double S, born Leona Brown, was raised in Long Beach, California and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas. This Rap Diva has been puttin’ it down since she was 14 years old. Unlike many female-rappers, Double S writes her own lyrics and music. Additionally, she is a skillfully savvy free-style rapper. She released her first single, “D.W.B., Driving While Blowed”, and is scheduled to release her new CD entitled, D.W.B. Her musical style is a mix of ‘Dirty South’ and ‘West Coast Gangsta’ with a variation which has attracted fans of all races, ages, and gender. She has performed at several venues in the Fort Worth Metroplex, such as Club Dreams, Jaime’s Rhythm, Midpointe, Club Allure, the Ranch Club, and Club Fernandez. Double S has received positive reviews from previous works. This is especially impressive considering the Rap industry is a male dominated “boys club” where most female-rappers are considered “products” rather than artist. However, Double S transcends these boundaries by bringing with her a proficient working knowledge of the music industry. Her distinct independence and self-sufficiency is displayed in her prolific writing of hard hitting lyrics that portray her rough, thuggish side as well as her feminine side. D.W.B. will certainly launch her to the top of the Rap game.
Blowin’ up in the Rap game is the most important thing in the life of this new rising star, Double S. She has the skills, knowledge, motivation, and the desire to go all the way to the top. With songs like “On Tha Low” and “Southside,” it will only be a matter of time before her persistence prevails and she lives out her dream.
